Harriet Miers, Scooter Libby, Sam Alito, Oh My!
IT'S BEEN A BAD COUPLE OF MONTHS for ol' George W. Bush.
Merry Fitzmas Everybody!
The latest disaster to hit the White House: I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby has now been indicted by Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. Hit with charges involving obstruction of justice and pejury, Scooter Libby stepped down from his positions as Chief of Staff to the Vice President and Special Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs. Fitzgerald also pointed out that this investigation isn't over and that further work is needed. I, for one, expect to see more indictments as this progresses.
Oh, and by the way, anyone who still goes by the nickname "Scooter" and is beyond the 6th grade really needs to have his head examined. Just myopinion.

So, who does Bush decide to replace the much-maligned Harriet Miers? Sam Alito, a guy they nickname "Scalito" or "Scalia-lite" because of his right-leaning political views. There is no doubt Bush reacted in response to the far-right. It will be interesting to see the response to Alito and
whether or not the Democrats will be able to sway moderate Republicans away from voting for this bozo.
It's clear to just about everyone, including people closely working with the president in the White House, that Dubya just isn't having much fun anymore. Think the stress is getting to him? Hmm...I say, bring out the popcorn, sit in front of the evening news and watch this crazed,
puppet-for-the-radical-right administration implode right before our eyes. Reminds me of glorious fireworks on the Fourth of July.

I've heard the right wing smear fuckers all over the news saying shit like "they got him on a technicality" and "now that this investigation is OVER, and there was no conspiracy found, we can get on with the business of gov't". Al Franken was right, nothing but a bunch of lying liars. The investigation is NOT over, it has only just begun. I'm investing in pop corn for the next Fitzmas. Sit back, and enjoy watching these fuckers go down.
I'm just glad that now that it's been revealed that there was no conspiracy or anything like that -- they got Libby on a technicality -- we can now go back to governing and public service.

Kinda like trying Clinton on a technicality? Once again, we're about the substance behind the charges. While the GOP was wailing about perjury and obstruction of justice, Dems were saying "look, this is just about sex." Now, the tides have reversed. The GOP has been talking about "look, perjury and obstruction of justice aren't serious crimes [um...let's forget about Clinton]" while Dems are saying "look beyond the superficial charges: while Clinton lied about sex, this administration lied to promote a war." See the GOP hypocracy here?
I wish I thought the same way 'anonymous' does. Then I could sleep well at night believing our nation is in good hands. Instead, I have to be informed about what's really going on, and almost constantly pissed off by what the Shrub is doing in the name of the US and Christ. Goddamn Crusades were over centuries ago. Let it go pal, let it go.
