Bush Poll Update: Yes, They're At a New Low

THE WASHINGTON POST reported yesterday that Bush's approval ratings are at an all time low. A record-low 38% approve of his performance and 6 out of 10 disapprove, according to the Post-ABC poll.

The funny thing is that both Reagan and Clinton experienced dips in approval numbers during their presidencies but both had the charisma to climb out of them. The second Bush, however, shows no signs of personal charisma that made Reagan and Clinton popular presidents. Citizens who voted for Bush did so because he was perceived to be honest and credible in protecting the U.S. against terrorism. But with the incompetent handling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, the declinine of social order in Iraq, the blatant hand-washing Dubai ports deal, and most recently the discovery that it was Bush himself who authorized the Plame leak, voter-confidence in Bush has utterly evaporated.

So, in a nutshell, Bush is the epitome of the lame-duck president. GOP candidates will be avoiding him like really smelly dog doodie.
